Total collected = item selling price + buyer-paid shipping. Fees = total collected × marketplace rate + total collected × promotional rate + fixed fee. Net profit = collected − fees − item acquisition − postage − packaging − other costs.
Why buyer-paid shipping is not automatically profit
Shipping paid by the buyer is revenue in this model; the label you purchase is an expense. When the two differ, the difference affects net profit. This distinction is useful when comparing a free-shipping listing against a buyer-paid-shipping listing.
